Education

In February 1916, George Herman Ruth Jr. became Babe Ruth in Baltimore, Maryland. However, the growing up years of Babe Ruth were a series of tough times. He was sent to St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys in Baltimore, Maryland, where he was put into the hands of Brother Matthias and started his training. Brother Matthias saw great potential in Ruth and began to develop it.

Ruth fell in love with baseball, but he did not go to college as he started his professional baseball career just at the age of 19. Ruth joined the Boston Red Sox in 1914 and won many titles and led his team to many victories. Babe Ruth popularised the baseball game in many countries, and Japan even made a team of its own after that.

Career

1914–1919: He was first selected by the Boston Red Sox and debuted on July 11, 1914, as a left-handed pitcher and helped his team win the World Series. In 1918, Ruth won his 3rd World Series and became a full-time hitter. In 1919, he was sold to his new team.

1920–1935: In 1920, Ruth signed a deal with the New York Yankees as a full-time outfielder and became an AL MVP and won 2 World Series. In 1989 he retired from his professional baseball career because of his health.
